Confessions of a Stay At Home Mom

I often hear the question thrown around… what do stay at home moms do all day? Just yesterday, I saw a mom post on facebook that she was about to join the “SAHM club” and wanted ideas on what to do to fill up her time. You know what I said? DO ANYTHING YOU WANT!

I used to get all touchy about this topic. I always hate the snotty “oh”s I get when I mention I don’t work and I hate trying to defend how my day is spent and how it couldn’t possibly all get done if I had a full time job. No one likes to live their life in constant defense of their lifestyle, so I have decided I’m not going to be touchy about it anymore.

I don’t work. Some moms work. Who fricken cares? You do you and I am going to do exactly what I feel is best for me and my family. Yeah, most days I don’t get dressed, take a shower, or even brush my hair. And you know what else? Some days I leave the dirty dishes in the sink and take a nap instead. What!? Yep, I take a nap instead of cleaning, often. Go ahead and judge me, I don’t care anymore.

What I do care about though is spending the maximum time available with my children and being a stay at home mom lets me do that. And thankfully, I married a one in a million guy that fully, completely, 100%, supports my desire to be a stay at home mom, naps and all. I don’t know how I got so lucky.

So, do you want to know what Monroe and I did this morning? Just hit play and be ready to hear my beautiful singing voice and see my unwashed face.

Clear eyes, full hearts, can’t lose.

  1. Love it, love it, love it. You are one amazing mom and you will never regret one moment you share with your precious babies.
On the side, I don’t think you should audition for the BG choir just yet. Lol love you and your sweet family

  2. Oh how I miss those singing silly song days!! Now my boys just give me “that look” when I break out in chorus! You are a great Mom, making memories, and showing the world how love is done! Carry on 🙂

  3. LOL your so funny. Half of those songs are ones that I taught you when you were Monroe’s age.

  4. Love loveeeeee this post! I often have to defend myself for quitting my big fancy career to stay at home (we live in the Washington, DC area, where it’s often cooler to be a worked-to-the-bone and commuting for hours 6 figure mom than “just a stay at home mom”). Thanks for this! It made me happy and content with my own nap time today. 🙂

  5. I love this post Jessica, I do work (just a little bit) and sometimes I still don’t take a shower. bah! We do what we can right. Thanks for being real as always.

  6. Love love love it! We need more mom’s to be open and honest like you. You just gave me a new confidence in my position of stay at home mom. Thank you and God bless you and your blog!
